SIBS was founded in 2000 as a private, non-profit international school with distinctive characteristics. The school promotes "holistic education" and adopts small-class teaching across all levels, offering a comprehensive international curriculum from preschool to Grade 12. SIBS employs the International Baccalaureate (IB) teaching methodology, integrating the U.S. Common Core Standards, the Chinese National Curriculum, and elements of the British Cambridge curriculum, while emphasizing Chinese cultural education. This creates a multicultural learning environment and provides a high-quality, integrated bilingual education that blends Eastern and Western approaches.


Located along the scenic Wenyu River in Beijing’s Shunyi Central Villa District, SIBS boasts an independent campus with a construction area of 50,000 square meters and a beautiful environment. The newly established SIBS TECH HUB features cutting-edge facilities, including an AI computer lab, a supercar workshop, a digital design and manufacturing lab, a robotics lab, and a black box theater. Each school division has its own teaching buildings, library, gymnasium, sports field, and cafeteria. Tailored to students’ age groups, the school also offers specialized facilities such as a robotics STEM classroom, a LEGO room, a tea ceremony room, a woodworking workshop, and a food science lab. A fresh air ventilation system covers the entire campus.


SIBS is recognized globally by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as an IB World School, holding full accreditation for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). Prior to this, SIBS earned certifications from Cambridge International, U.S. Cognia, the East Asia Regional Council of Schools, and the College Board’s AP program, as well as membership in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and authorization for the UK’s BTEC programs in arts and sports. This diverse range of curricula provides SIBS students with opportunities to pursue academic excellence and gain admission to top global universities.


The rigorous selection of Chinese and international teachers is key to SIBS’s educational success. In 2006, the school was approved by the Beijing Municipal Government, Public Security Bureau, and Education Commission to admit foreign students and employ foreign experts. At SIBS, over 80% of teachers hold master’s degrees or higher, including some with doctoral degrees, and more than 90% have over five years of teaching experience in international schools. Foreign teachers, nearly 70 in total, primarily come from six English-speaking countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Bilingual Chinese teachers are mainly recruited from international schools overseas, as well as top-tier international schools and international departments of public schools in China.
